Workers prepare to apply finishing touches to the poured concrete decorative wall sculpture covering the wall leading into Alum Creek Park. The concrete, a special mixture designed to flow into the complex silicone form, required a week of drying before the form was removed.

Father and daughter enjoy Monday’s string winds by flying a kite at Walnut Ridge Park on the playing field adjacent to the ball fields. In the background is the son who also handled a kite for the trio.
Despite a brief period when both kites went missing in the strong wind, one was retrieved after its string became entangled in a nearby tree. The other still sits atop a neighbor’s tree waiting for a another strong wind to dislodge it or a brave soul to venture out on a thin limb for retrieval.

Watching the 2011 edition of the Sertoma Car Show required an umbrella when afternoon storms traveled across the organization’s new show lot off Brooksedge Drive.
New this year was the location and a different set of vendors showing their wares, including Westerville’s CaJohns Fiery Food whose parking lot was the new show lot. And, there was chili and beer.
